August 23 and August 30 the MASWCD Area Meetings will be held.  Due to the bylaw changes approved in 2008, there will be an election in every area this year.
If you are interested in running for Area Director for your area, please contact your current Area Director, Peggy Lemons or Steve Radcliff.
Each area also needs to have 2 alternate Area Directors that are available to fill in at board meetings, etc., if the Area Director is unavailable.
Text Box: As an Area Director for MASWCD below are some of the duties and activities to plan on:
Attend 6 board meetings a year.
Attend the MASWCD Area Meeting.
Help plan and attend the Training Conference.
Attend the Education Seminar.
Participate in various committees to promote the mission of the Association.
Act as a liaison between the Districts in your Area and   MASWCD,   NRCS,

Text Box: NACD is in the process of developing a strategic plan for their organization.  Webinars were held for each state to give input, however the participation was very low.
Due to various reasons for low participation, they have decided to offer the polling questions as an on-line survey that Districts can take at their leisure, before June15, 2010.

The National Summit of Rural America with Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack will be held at Jefferson College in Hillsboro, Missouri, on June 3, 2010.  The Summit will be an opportunity for rural Americans to share their vision and ideas for creating a more prosperous and more promising future for rural America.
