The Road to Conservation Starts at Home!
Text Box: There are several workshops this year targeted at each part of the conservation team, not just Board members. To find out more or register go to www.maswcd. net and follow the links. Text Box: The 2009 Training Conference registration is no available on-line. There are also links to the agenda, hotel information, workshop descriptions, resolutions, and award winners. The keynote speaker for the Opening Session will be Pam Pullman. Pam was at the conference last year speaking at a couple of workshops. Evaluations from last year’s conference overwhelmingly requested her back for more training. She will also be doing some workshops on Monday afternoon and Tuesday. The Banquet speaker is Chad Pregracke. Chad started the Living Lands and Water organization when he was in college in 1998 Text Box: because of his concern for the condition of the rivers. Today there are several employees and a fleet of several barges and workboats. Thousands of volunteers have cooperated to help with the community cleanups. Living Lands & Water estimates total refuse collected to be over 3 million pounds! Not only is Chad a very knowledgeable and interesting speaker, he is entertaining as well. At the NACD National Meeting in February 2009 he kept the crowd laughing with his stories of how he got his ideas and how he got things done when there were no funds. Text Box: Training Conference Text Box: MASWCD 65th Anniversary Text Box: Text Box: In recognition of the 65th anniversary for MASWCD there will be some special activities at the Training Conference. The Past Presidents for MASWCD will all be recognized for their Text Box: leadership and time spent in helping grow the organization. A contribution will be made by MASWCD to NACD in their names to help further the conservation program nationally.
