Missouri placed 5th out of 52 teams at the 2009 Canon Envirothon in Asheville, North Carolina. 

Pembroke Hill High School from Kansas City competed for the first time in the Canon Envirothon this year, and placed 5th out of 52 teams.  This was only the second year of competition for Pembroke Hill High School in the Envirothon at any level.  Each student on the Missouri team received a $1,500 scholarship and medallion.  The team received a Canon Envirothon plaque to display at their school.  The advisor and the sponsoring agency (the Jackson County Soil & Water Conservation District) each received Canon products.  The team also received the "Extra Mile Award" which recognizes one state and one province for outstanding efforts and activity in leadership and professionalism and received $100.

There were 45 states and 7 provinces in the competition.
