Districts pay a yearly
dues as a show of support. In fact, your district is probably already a
member district of MASWCD and these voluntary dues dollars make up a large
portion of our annual working budget. But there is always more work to do.
Now is a great time for you to show your
commitment to your state association by becoming an individual member.
Your membership helps to strengthen the very
foundation of our grassroots conservation movement. And, it goes a long way
toward providing the extra funding needed for program development.
You provide the financial support. MASWCD repays you with information, representation, leadership and
distinctive service. We have
always been the eyes, ears and voice of conservation in
Leadership Development - Developing training to educate new board members
about the reason for and the history of the Soils tax, as well as about the
laws that affect their board. Also developing training to
help board members to understand their role in the county and how to best serve
their cooperators.
District Assistance - Working to obtain funds for Districts to provide benefits
for their employees to enhance their ability to retain and attract qualified
employees. Proposing ways to expand the District Assistance
allocation in a way that more accurately reflects the actual workload of the
District.
Cooperative Working Agreement - Working to define the roles of NRCS, the
Commission and the Districts.
Legislative Oversight - Following bills introduced in the Missouri
Legislature that impact the soil and water conservation movement in the state,
as well as following the budget which houses the soils sales tax funds.
Following bills introduced in Congress that have a national and local impact on
soil and water conservation and informing members as to this affect and
progress.
For as little as $25.00, you can have the
satisfaction of knowing you’ve gone the extra mile to secure a sound future for
conservation.
