2009 Missouri Envirothon
Welcome to the 2009 Missouri Envirothon. We appreciate the hard work you have done and are excited that you will be participating.
During registration you will also receive your team's competition schedule, a team number, and a Missouri Envirothon T-shirt. You must wear your Envirothon T-shirt during the entire competition. The team number and T-shirts will ensure anonymity during the competition. The oral component will be held at an indoor station. Please, no school jackets, hats, shirts or other apparel that might compromise the anonymous aspect of the competition.
Teams will compete at three stations in the morning and three stations in the afternoon. There will be more than one team at each site. The Competition will start at the designated time, with 10 minutes to travel between stations and 40 minutes for each test..
At the Oral Component Station, one of the teams will be chosen to present first. You will have ten (10) minutes to present your solution to the problem to three judges. There will be a five (5) minute question and answer period after your presentation. Note cards (3"x5") may be used for your own reference. While the first team is presenting, the other team will wait outside but must remain at the station until to rotate to the next station. Changing to presentation clothes is not necessary, students are expected to present in their testing clothes.
Bring a backpack or tote to carry clothes and other miscellaneous items. You will need to bring a poncho (in case of rain), sunscreen, hat, insect repellent and sunglasses (optional). You will find it advantageous to dress in layers because of the time of year.
All other materials will be provided on site (paper, pencils, clipboard, etc.) Use of personal calculators, databases or other unauthorized materials will disqualify your team.
Absolutely NO alcohol, smoking, illegal drugs, profanity or inappropriate behavior or attire are tolerated at any Envirothon. Violations by any member of the team will disqualify the entire team.
Members of the press may be on hand to take photographs or videotape your team. They may also ask you for your impressions of the competition. You or your coaches' comments could be used in a newspaper article, TV story or future promotional materials for the Envirothon. Please continue your participation in the competition, don’t feel the urge to pose for the camera. Have fun and good luck!
